23 January Notes on an iPhoneApparently rumors are floating that IBM is planning to release a version of Notes to run on the iPhone. Thought I would share this quote on it: Well that put me through the fucking roof. As I pointed out to my guys last week, What the fuck are these inbred morons doing announcing something to do with iPhone without clearing it with us first? Shut the motherfuckers down. Like, now. And who the fuck ever said they could put their software on my Jesus phone in the first place? Putting Notes on iPhone is like getting out a piece of exquisite Wedgwood china and using it to serve a steaming pile of dog shit. Have you ever seen Notes? It's not software, it's a form of punishment. Companies that use Notes have to staff not only a help desk but also a suicide prevention center -- it's that bad. Even the poor bastards at IBM, who are forced to use it, do nothing but complain. Thing is, I can't take the credit - it's on the 'Fake Steve Jobs Blog' which often cracks me up. i thought this was classic! 17 January Apple sets out to screw its customersOver the past three years I've become a fan of Apple technology, but even I think this is ridiculous: iPod touch owners rally to get new apps for free - The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) Don't get me wrong - it's potentially justifiable (takes effort to write that code), it's not without precedent (HP/Compaq did something similar for iPaq upgrades a few years ago) and some people will even pay it numbly. But it's still garbage. No matter what, a software upgrade should not be a charged-for item. Now if they had pakaged it differently - sorta like Microsoft Plus was when it first came out (notice they called it an enhancement rathert than an upgrade- then maybe, just maybe, I could see it being more palatable. Even then it would still suck, though. 13 January Giants Win!I have to admit up until the absolute end of the game I didn't have faith. With two minutes left when they had to punt, I figured it would end as Giant games so often seem to, with Dallas marching down the field, bending NY to their will, and scoring with barely any tie left on the clock. But this Giant team seems to have more to it than I thought. Or I feared - while I root for them all the way thru, I have trouble believing they won't let me down again. In any case, they're in the NFC championship against sentimental favorite Brett Favre, with a decimated secondary. Can they get past Green Bay? I sure hope so, and I'm going to do my best to believe! 11 January First iPhone Trojan reported by F-SecureHad to happen. More interesting to me is that it was written by an 11 year old kid playing around with XML. When I was 11 I don't think I was worrying about writing viruses yet - I was more obsessed with GI Joe. Of course if I had a computer yet - and not at all sure I did - it was a C64. First Trojan reported for the iPhone - Network World |
