30 juin Interesting iPhone development tidbitDiscovered today that you need the absolute latest version of OSX to install the iPhone 3.0 SDK. Even the most current patches on 10.4.x isn't good enough. It should go without saying that there is no Windows version of the SDK. You run it on a Mac, or you code for some other mobile platform, apparently. 28 juin iPhone BloggingSo you may have been able to tell that I've been trying out a bunch of different blogging clients. Since I'm so bad at keeping up with regular posting, I figure something that lets me blog offline and then upload is best, I can scribble my Ideas as I have time rather than having to try and remember what I wanted to write about when I had access to ScribeFire (which is my favorite tool). Even better than might be a truly mobile tool. Enter BlogWriter, the tool I'm writing this on, an iPhone app. With a touch of luck and some forced attention to blogging, maybe this will prove to do the trick to get me blogging more often. We'll see! 16 juin Microsoft Cuts Employees' Smartphone ReimbursementNot significant, but interesting. See This Story. I'm not sure how I feel about this - on the one hand, I get the concept that if you work for a company, you should be a consumer of that company's products when you can. On the other hand, it's a bit of a slap in the face of the Softies. I mean, they're not saying you can't have a data plan, just that you can't have one on a different device. I guess at the end of the day I would side with Microsoft on this one, but it feels petty to me, which is something Microsoft really wasn't for a long time. 2 juin So How Cool will Palm's new phone be?It's funny how I remember loving my old Treo 600 Smartphone. I mean, that phone could do everything, and at the time was the hottest device available anywhere. Microsoft was working their tails off to (with the help of partners of course) counter the effectiveness of this device. But Palm has languished in their success in recent years, and the Treo now looks clunky and aged, rather than cool and hip. Enter the Pre. (Pronounced "preeee") http://now.sprint.com/nownetwork/productPage.html It is getting lots of attention among techies and features an entirely new OS. And it's available on Saturday (but only on Sprint). So, worth a look? Probably. But I predict loits of issues with the new OS over the first few months. I'll probably go play with one, but not at all sure the Pre can pry my iPhone out of my hands. |
