Wiki Color-Codes based on Informatin Source

Wikipedia Color-Codes for Credibility - PC World

So, can you finally trust Wiki?  Well, with a grain of salt.  I think Wiki is a fabulous source of information, but you can never treat it as truly authoritative.  This will help, though, and I like this as a solution MUCH better than the previous filtering plan they had come up with, which flew in the face of what Wiki is and has always been about.

I think I'm tired of the French

Classic overreaction.  If true (not saying this is not a real issue, just that it hasn't been truly confirmed yet) was it really necessary for the French Government to get involved in ten defective iPhones?
France, Apple to Discuss iPhone Problems - WSJ.com

From what the article says, Apple hasn't found any case where 'external force' wasn't to blame.  Maybe the French are just so stressed out that they squeeze the things a little too hard?

Top Honors or Worst Undressed List?

Jessica Biel tops list as most risky star in cyberspace | Technology | Reuters

I consider myself to be pretty up-to-date on security (since it's a big part of what I do as a consultant) but I didn't know they actually rated this stuff.  I wonder if they consider it an honor to top the list?

Cash for Clunkers ends it's run - Success, or not?

Cash for Clunkers Is Another Government Failure - WSJ.com
"Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood boasts that the program has been wildly popular and provided "a lifeline to the automobile industry, jump starting a major sector of the economy and putting people back to work.''

So, if this was the lifeline, what was the tens of billions in bailout money they already got?  Chicken feed?  Throw-away money?

One thing I found rather disturbing as well is that 4 out of the top 5 cars purchased through this program were imports.  How did this save the U.S. Auto Industry exactly?

RIP Ginger Mouse

I've been remiss in not blogging here lately, primarily due to being preoccupied with loss of a family member.

Some may find it trivial, but our (nearly) 4 year old Weim had succumbed to complications of GME last week, and I've been down as this has approached.

She's been sick for about four months, and I took the time to put together some impressions of the disease, since I wasn't able to find much when this ordeal started.  See This Site for the information I've been writing as things have gone on.

Rest well, Mouse.  We all miss you.

I've Given up on Digg

I've been a fan of Digg ever since the beginning, but I've decided to simply remove it from all my toolbars, my iGoogle home page, and my bookmarks.  It's just gone too far to the left.

I count myself a moderate, with both left and right leanings depending on the topic.  I can deal with articles that come from either side (though I tend to try and wade through the rhetoric) but the Digg community has gone so, so far left I can't take it any more.  The way articles are presented is always from an extreme liberal bent, and the comments consist of left-wing radical comments praising Obama (who let's be honest, isn't doing all that good a job) and bured comments from right-wing radicals trying to praise Rush and Hannity in the face of the liberal assault.

So Digg is dead to me, at least for the time being.

BSOD used to trick people into installing malware

Fake 'Blue Screen of Death' pushing scareware | Zero Day | ZDNet.com

Interesting attack vector.  Nothing really new I guess, but interesting and something to be aware of.

An indicator of how screwed up things are

Not many laughs for Sandler's 'Funny People' - Los Angeles Times
Disney's family action flick "G-Force" had a decent second-weekend drop of 46%, putting it in third place with $17.1 million. The movie was expensive to produce at $150 million, however, and the studio had been hoping for a smaller decline. After solid weekday ticket sales, "G-Force" has now grossed a total of $66.5 million and probably will ultimately earn about $100 million domestically. As Walt Disney Co. Chief Financial Officer Thomas Staggs conceded last week, the film will quite possibly end up a money loser.
Without question there's something wrong in the world when a movie starring CGI rodents grosses a million dollars and still loses money.
