Are we ready for some football?

Having grown up in New York, I'm a big Giants fan, and only somewhat less so a Jets fan.  basically what this means is, I root for the both of them; the only time I don't root for the Jets is if they happen to be playing the G-Men. This is quite different from being a baseball fan in NY, where you are either a Mets or a Yankee fan - but not both.  As a Met fan, i am sworn on pain of death to detest the Bronx boys.  Anyone who claims they are a fan of both most cerainly is not really a New Yorker.

And already it's looking like a very long Jets season.  One of the more frustrating things for a Jet fan in recent years was passing on Matt Lienart to draft, well, anybody but Lienart.  When you have a chance to grab your QB for the next ten years - and your current QB is an oft-injured, weak-armed, PUSSY named Chad Pennington - how the frig to you pass on Lienart?

Anyhow, what's past is past, and the Jets will now struggle for the rest of this season (as I type they are getting absolutely crushed by the Patriots) and next offseason perhaps somehow they'll manage to get a real QB.  Until then the only real bet on the Jets is the over/under on how many games before Pennington's arm once again gets removed from its socket.

As for the Giants, it was an amazing comeback - Eli looked pretty much like you would expect of the number one pick (which again, the Giants were smart enough to recognize and invest in, unlike the aforementioned Jets)!  At 1-1, and looking pretty strong in last week's loss to Indy, the giants look like a pretty decent team this year!

Oh, one more thing, as a Giants fan, that pretty much means I root for the giants, plus whoever is playing the Redskins and Cowboys.  As they are playing each other tonight on Sunday Night Football, the best we can hope for is the Redskins buss crashing into the Cowboys locker room on the way to the stadium, injuring virtually all starters on both teams.  Here's to drunk busdrivers!
